Single Review Nivea "Okay" featuring Lil Jon and Youngbloodz
R&B artist Nivea is back on the scene with her hot new single “Okay” which features Lil Jon and the Youngbloodz. Nivea came on the scene several years ago. She got her first big break singing the hook on Mystikal’s song “Danger.” She then went on to release a single “Don’t Mess With The Radio.” That single garnered minor buzz but it was her single “Don’t Mess With My Man,” which put Nivea over the top. That song was followed up by “Laundromat” which could have been a bigger single but it came out at the peak of the R. Kelly scandal. Kels didn’t even appear in the video although he was on the track, in the video Nick Cannon played the lead.

Soon Nivea’s love life took center stage and she openly discussed her relationship with Lil Wayne with Sister 2 Sister Magazine and other press. Now Nivea is back and focused on her music. “Okay” is crunk n B style song with a crazy beat. Lil Jon is on the track as are the Youngbloodz. This song is destined to be a hit. The production is awesome and Nivea’s voice sounds awesome.

People were quick to write off Ciara as a one hit wonder after the success of "Goodies" but it is clear that this talented singer/songwriter is here to stay. "Goodies"has held down the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 7 weeks--the longest any female artist has held down the #1 spot all year. Ciara's album Goodies is the bomb and packed with potential singles. Radio was spinning "1-2 Step" and "Pick Up The Phone" so it wasn't clear which would be the follow-up single but it has been announced that "1-2 Step" featuring Missy Elliot will be the follow up single to "Goodies." The video was shot in mid October and will be hitting the airwaves soon.

Astronaut marks the first studio release from the original line up of the popular group Duran Duran. Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, Andy Taylor, and Roger Taylor are all back together. “Astronaut” is one of those rare CD’s that will please old fans and new ones alike. Although it still sounds like the Duran we all know and love and some songs have an eighties feel, this is quite a modern CD. The first thing I noticed upon first listen is the driving bass line and strong beats of some of the songs. “Sunrise” sounds awesome on a good sound system. The title track “Astronaut” is also a great song as is the song, “What Happens Tommorrow.” So many of these songs have been heard in bits and pieces here and there and it’s great to hear them all mastered and sounding the way they were meant to be heard. Other cool songs include, “Nice,” “Taste The Summer,” and “Bedroom Toys.” The whole CD rocks, as a Duranie, I can’t really compare this CD to any other one, but in my humble opinion it had the strong beats that some of the songs on “Notorious” did and a bit of the experimental flavah of Meddazzaland, but “Astronaut” stands alone in the Duran discography and may prove to be their best CD ever.

Now onto the DVD. It is so worth it to purchase the DVD with the CD. The DVD includes the “Sunrise” video, and live performances from the Wembly performance. Songs performed live include “Sunrise,” “Hungry Like The Wolf,” “What Happens Tommorrow,” “New Religion” and “Wild Boys.” The quality of the DVD is so awesome. The running time is 45 minutes, it made me wsh they would have released the entire concert on the DVD. Duran still rocks and the songs sound great live. The DVD also includes behind the scenes footage of the boys. A wonderful purchase, like an early Christmas present.

Spotlight Album Review-Ciara-Goodies

Ciara
, pronounced See-air-ra is a beautiful 18 year old singer from the Dirty South. This young woman has accomplished quite a feat for a new artist, not only did her debut single "My Goodies" reach the number 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, she held off some hot songs from established artist. Well the first thing she did was knock the club anthem "Lean Back" out of the #1 spot. For the past three weeks she has held down the #1 spot holding off "My Boo" by Alicia Keys and Usher, "My Place" by Nelly featuring Jaheim and "Sunshine" by Lil Flip featuring Lea. The video is off the hook and people wanted to know more about the young woman who does the snake charmer like dance in the video. The video features cameos from Monica, Jazze Pha and other dirty south artist.

The song "Goodies" featuring Petey Pablo is considered to be the first CRunk & B song by a female. Usher's "Yeah" is considered the first CRunk & B song. So Ciara is claiming the title as the First Lady of cRunk & B.

Her debut album title Goodies is in stores now and this album won't disappoint. Ciara has a very strong singing voice and the album is just hot with several songs having the potential to be singles. The song "Oh" is something that is real chilled but still a banger than one can ride out to. Ludacris is on the track but this single would have still been hot without Luda. Missy Elliot is featured on the song "1,2 Step."" T.I. makes an appearance on the "Goodies" remix but he doesn't do as much for the song as Petey Pablo did for the original. "Thugstyle" is another song that is sure to be a favorite among fans, as are the songs "Pick Up The Phone." Ciara has a couple of slow jamz on the album that allow her to show off her vocal range. Overall this is quite an impressive debut for a new artist.

DVD Featured Review-Diff'Rent Stroke Season 1

What-Chu Talking About Willis! Yes, Diff'rent Strokes Season 1 is now available on DVD for the first time thanks to Columbia Tri Star. The 3 DVD set includes 24 episodes from the first season. These episodes are considered to be some of the funniest of the series. Arnold (Gary Coleman) was at his smallest and cutest stage. Mrs. Garret was around as the witty housekeeper (in later seasons she would be replaced by other maids, Pearl and Adelaide as she starred on The Facts of Life.) The Season 1 episodes are classic. The series opens with the episode where Mr. Drummond acquires Arnold and Willis due to the death of their mother. Willis is initially reluctant to stay and wants to leave and go back to Harlem but he decides to stick things out. Other funny episodes on this set include "Goodbye Dolly" when Arnold loses his favorite doll and can't sleep he keeps the whole house awake and Mr. Drummond goes as far as to hire a private investigator to find the doll. Another classic episode is "The Relative" which stars Lawanda Page of Sanford and Son fame.

There is not much Dana Plato in these early episodes because in the beginning Kimberly attended boarding school and only came home on weekends.

could get any better than it already is. "Confessions" the first version was the perfect blend of slow grooves, r&b songs and the instant crunk n' b classic "Yeah." "Confessions" Special Edition is everything that the first version is with four brand new songs. The first hit off of this collection is "My Boo" featuring Alicia Keys. Their voices blend together something beautiful and this is sure not to be the last duet between this two hit makers. The second new song which has been getting a lot of airplay is the "Confessions Part 2 Remix" which features Twista and Kanye West. Although it doesn't always make it to radio, Shyne is also featured on this remix. The song gets much better once Shynes part is over as the incarcerated rapper is spitting his rhymes quite obviously through a telephone. But the remix is tight. The album art on the inserts and on the CD itself are quite awesome. The CD still has all the hits from the first album including "Throwback" and "Bad Girl." This CD is destined for fourth quarter success and if you didn't pick up "Confessions" the first time, please don't sleep on it the second time.

Music Reviews

Fans who like the R. Kelly songs "Fiesta Remix," "Gangsta Girl," "I Wish," and "Ignition Remix" probably won't be feeling the album Happy People/U Saved Me..

The first CD in the two disc set is Happy People. This CD is pretty much all stepping music ala the song "Happy People" and "Step In The Name of Love." "Ladies Night" seems like an instant classic, but this CD sounds like one continues steppers set. The second disc, "U Saved Me" opens up with the song "3 Way Phone Call," an odd little ditty that features Kelly Price. This CD is basically a gospel CD. If you like the R. Kelly that has more of a hip-hop or true R&B edge wait for his next collaboration with Jay Z to be released which is reportedly in the works for a late 2004 early 2005 release.

Not many artist can stay in the game for nearly 20 years and still have hot single after hot single but LL Cool J is changing the face of rap music. Where are some of the other rappers in his age range (Slick Rick, Dougie Fresh, Special Ed, Erick Sermon to name a few) are considered grandfathers of the game that haven't had a radio hit in quite some time, LL is still considered a very current and modern artists. The DEFinition picks up where 2002's 10 left off. There are more songs for the ladies like "Hush." People are dissin' LL for his women friendly raps but those young cats seemed to forget, LL invented the love rap track with his hit "I Need Love." The debut single "Headsprung" has an infectious beat. This album is cool for the LL fan or someone looking for a new CD to add to their collection. As many LL albums are, this album has a few potential singles but has some forgettable tracks in between. The album also features R. Kelly.

Welcome Back is a predictable album from Mase. He doesn't take many risks and overall it isn't very different than his Bad Boy debut. He still had dance friendly tracks and the boasting is getting ridiculous. Mase, also known as Mason Betha the southern preacher has no problem boasting about what he has and how much he makes--not much different than the old Mase. He still wants to make you dance and still wants to make you laugh, just without any curse words. The radio singles "Welcome Back" and "Breathe, Step, Shake" are nice to ride to as is the song. Other good cuts are "My Harlem Lullaby," and "Wasting My Time." Bottom line is it's an okay album, if you liked Mase in the past you will most likely still like Mase and this album. Not a back return CD.
