How are you doing?
One Be Lo-Chilling.
I'm out here in Denver right now. I'm on the road. I'm
just trying to stay healthy. You know, give the same
energy every night. I've been out here for a minute.
I interviewed you back in January or February. Are
most of the songs you are performing from the current
album?
One Be Lo-Yeah,
I mean most of the set is from the S.O.N.O.G.R.A.M
album. I pretty much do songs from everything
that I've got. People know a lot of the material I put
out. The new album is fairly new to everybody. Some
people know of the older stuff I put out. I try to do
some of the bigger songs from those records.
You are on the Warped Tour?
One Be Lo-Well yeah.
I'm kinda doing two tours at the same time. The
Warped Tour is during the daytime. So if I am
in Denver on the Warped Tour in the day and at night
I will do another show, a club or something like that.
Okay, maximizing your traveling.
One Be Lo-Yeah no
doubt.
So you were a MYSPACE featured artist and that is like
a HUGE thing. How did that happen?
One Be
Lo-Man I was on the road. All I know
is someone called me and told me I was a MYSPACE
featured artist. I couldn't tell you how it happened.
I guess I'm just...I guess someone was feeling it and
decided to hook it up. I want to give props to MYSPACE
for even thinking to do that. I don't think it was a
manager or Fat Beats. I think it was just somebody in
the friend chain was like, "Yo, you need to check this
out."
Yeah because it rotated all throughout the site and
was on the main page and the login page.
One Be Lo-You
know about the MYSPACE thing right?
I'm a MYSPACE girl!
One Be Lo-I went
from like 5,000 friends to 11,000 in three or 4 days.
It's kind of wack because I can't really jump on the
Internet right now. I'm just out here on the road and
cats are hitting me up and I can't respond to a lot
of messages.
I saw your blog where you posted that you couldn't be
online much.
One Be Lo-Yeah.
So have you been doing any recording while you have
been on the road?
One Be Lo-Definitly
not. This is the first time I went on tour and I am
literally by myself. I am on a tour but it's like I
have to get in the car and drive and I'm rolling solo.
I have to check into the hotel and load up and set my
merch up. So it's taking a lot of energy from me because
normally I have at least one person in my crew helping
me sell merch or travel. I'm out here like One Man Army
for real. When I do get to a spot and I have like 10
minutes to sit down, I'm doing that. I'm just expending
a lot of energy right now.
What kind of merchandise are you selling on the road?
One Be Lo-I got the
CD's. Tee shirts, the tee shirts are running low. I've
got some vinyl, a couple of DVD's too, just regular
stuff.
How long will you be touring?
One Be Lo-I'm going
to finish up The Warped Tour. My last day is around
August 10th. I'm going to leave the Warped Tour and
do Scribble Jam. Then I'm pretty much done. I have a
couple of spot days like I am going to go out to Cali
and a couple other places but Im going to chill for
a couple of months till October and go back out October
to February.
Have you started making plans for the next album?
One Be Lo-I got
a couple of projects. I am working on the conceptual
part of it. The next project I probably will put out
is something I am working on with someone from my crew
named Majestic Legend and its called "Security." That's
probably 75% done. But as far as solo type stuff I have
a couple of projects I am working on. I have a project
I am working on it's exclusive.
You say you drive from city to city. What kind of
music do you listen to when you are driving?
One Be Lo-Right
about now I'm just listening to beats I'm writing to.
I like to roll through different environments and suck
up the energy when I am listening to the beats. When
I am rolling through the hood they don't sound the same
as when you are sitting in a church parking lot. So
for inspiration purposes I play beats and it's cool
to listen to it on the freeway so sometimes I have to
drive through the hood or pull into a park. Even though
I am not in the studio, I am creating and gathering
my thoughts to put it to the next project.
You are out there by yourself. …do you have any wild
crazy stories from any towns that you have been in ?
One Be Lo-Man. It's all like a blur. Other
than rocking shows and stuff, The Warped Tour is pretty
interesting. There are a lot of things people do to
get attention. I'm kinda like out here in my own world
because I am by myself I have to expend a lot of my
energy for certain purposes so when I'm not working,
which is very rare, it's like I gotta be resting or
something like that. I'm meeting a lot of people though
and a lot of people are showing me a lot of love whether
they got the album five years ago or if they are on
the MYSPACE thing, I'm meeting a lot of good people
out here and making a lot of new family members or fans.
So that's pretty much what I'm about just networking
with people and trying to spread the love and spread
the music so for the next project it can be a little
bigger and make your job and my job a little easier.
