I read you are from Virginia is that true?
Chris Brown-Yeah
I'm from Virginia.
Where at in Virginia?
Chris Brown-Tappahannock,
Virginia
I ask because I am in Virginia Beach.
Chris Brown-You
are in Virginia Beach. That's what's up.
Did you ever do any talent shows?
Chris Brown-Not
really but I remember when 9-11 just happened I sung
in front of a school some gospel songs me and my teacher
had wrote.
American Idol is a popular show did you ever want
to go on American Idol?
Chris Brown-I did.
I always said in the back of my mind if I don't get
a deal I am going to go to American Idol. But I decided
I wanted to come out mysterious like, "Whose this new
kid?" And then they could grow with me. I like that,
but I want that mystique like, "Who that?"
How did you go about getting a record deal at such
a young age?
Chris Brown-I started
recording when I was like 13. I recorded with some people
in Richmond,Virginia and in Chesterfield. From there
they took me to New York and to a production team in
New York. I was working with them for like 3 months.
I had a meeting with Def Jam and met with Tina Davis.
I performed two songs for her and she liked it, and
she told me things I need to look for and do while I'm
performing. From there I performed for LA Reid. I performed
for LA Reid and he loved it. He wanted to sign me. It
took a little time. When they had the Roc-A-Fella and
Def Jam merger people were getting thrown from Def Jam
and Tina became my manager. She wanted to shop me to
different labels she took me to Warner Brothers and
Jive. At the end of the day we went with Jive.
Now I know a lot of kids today want to be rappers.
What made you want to be a singer?
Chris Brown-Actually
I was a rapper. I was always going with my friends they
had little computer sessions and I used to write and
all of us used to spit on the mic and stuff. I used
to sing the hook of the songs and then rap my verse.
I guess what made me want to sing more was the feeling
I got from singing and the feeling I got from other
people like girls..
Are you starting to get used to the female fans?
Chris Brown-Umm…not
yet. Cause it's like. You gotta have game to go and
get the girls. When you are singing, it's not that hard.
You just have to walk in there and say hi and they'll
be like, "Chris."
What do you like to do in your free time?
Chris Brown-I play
basketball. I design shirts. Play video games, talk
on the phone. Try to get some sleep.
What kind of video games do you like?
Chris Brown-I'm
a violent type of video games, I like violent games
and football games.
Do you play the Grand Theft Auto Games like Grand Theft
Auto San Andreas?
Chris Brown-Yeah..that's
my joint.
I like playing San Andreas and Vice City too. What music
are you feeling right now that is out?
Chris Brown-I'm
feeling that Omarion album.
Me too.
Chris Brown-I'm
feeling that and I still got Ushers joint. Keysha Coles…50
Cent, I got The Games album. Kanye, I like Kanye West.
Who else…Nelly. Nelly is doing his thing. And Jody Breeze.
Is your album all finished now?
Chris Brown-My album
is almost finished. I'm not saying we are totally done
because I know we have a couple of more songs we have
to do. We started on the album in February and from
the best part of February till now we have recorded
48 songs.
Wow! So I guess now it's picking which ones make the
album.
Chris Brown-Yeah.
Do you know when the album will be out probably?
Chris Brown-Fall
2005. Later September or October.
I ask some of my readers to send in questions. Do
you know if you will be performing in New York?
Chris Brown-Oh yeah!
I definitely have shows in New York. I have mall tours
in New York. Then I have a bus tour that I am doing.
Me, Nick Cannon, Youngbloodz and Teairra Mari. I'm not
for sure if we are coming to New York, but I know I
have some mall tours in New York.
Now you have your record deal is it everything that
you thought it would be?
Chris Brown-Yeah.
It's a dream come true. When I first got signed I was
like "Wow, I don't really think it's going down." But
then at the end of the day I started seeing things happening
and when I shot my video I was like "Wow."
When does the video premier?
Chris Brown-The
18th. It's being shopped on the 18th.
