Brenda L. Thomas Interview
In less than three years time Brenda L. Thomas has become one of the most well known writers in her genre. Brenda's independent release Threesome...where seduction, power and basketball collide was one of the most talked about books of the 2002-2003 season. Word of mouth and a good book helped to spread the buzz--not to mention a lot of hard work on Brenda's part. Soon Threesome was getting rave reviews and major press coverage, including S2S Magazine. Threesome also hit the Essence Bestseller list which isn't an easy feat. Brenda received an unexpected sudden boost in fame when she made several media appearances commentating on the Kobe Bryant case. Caught up in a media whirlwind Brenda made appearances on CNN, Court TV, Dateline, and the John Walsh Show to name a few.

Threesome became a huge success and garnered Brenda a huge fan base. It is not everyday that a new writer hits a home run with their first book, but Brenda's flare for storytelling and her unique mix of intrigue, careers, sex, and the sports world worked for her.

Brenda is now back with Fourplay...the dance of sensuality. For those of you who enjoyed Threesome you are sure to enjoy Fourplay. Fourplay follows Sasha two years after her affair with three men. Sasha is now running her own public relations firm and once again finds herself mixing business and pleasure.

Fourplay has been getting rave reviews and has received advanced praise from Lil Kim, authors Shannon Holmes and Niki Turner and from ESPN the magazine. Fourplay...the dance of sensuality will be released by Pocket Books on April 6th.

1) Is Fourplay a true sequel to Threesome? (Meaning will we see some of the same characters.)
Brenda L. Thomas-Yes, Sasha returns as the protagonists, as does Phoenix and Trent.

You received an incredible amount of press and wonderful reviews from your debut novel Threesome. Do you feel pressure to match the success of your debut novel?
Brenda L. Thomas-Most definitely because now I have an audience and fans before it was like well let's just see if somebody likes it now there are expectations that the sequel has to be just like Threesome and for real, they'll never be another one like the first.

You worked behind the scenes in the NBA industry in the past. Last year you made appearances on many national television stations (Court TV, CNN) providing commentary about the Kobe Bryant case. How was it to go from behind the scenes to suddenly being thrust into the limelight?
Brenda L. Thomas- I didn't have much time to think about it - it was like a media orgy - folks coming at you from everywhere. I think had I planned to try to get myself in the spotlight I would've spent too much time preparing and then probably not been prepared at all.

For a new author, you have developed quite a fan base. Can we expect more of the same in your writing or do you plan to write different genres of books in the future?
Brenda L. Thomas- I love creating fiction, I'm part of a anthology that releases in July called Four Degrees of Heat and my story is titled, Maxed Out and then I have another novel releases in November titled The Velvet Rope. However my long range plan maybe two years from now is to release my memoir, Laying Down My Burdens.

Are there any plans for a movie based on Threesome? If so who would you like to play Sasha?
Brenda L. Thomas- There's always a plan but I'll let the powers at be do their thing so I don't mess things up but Sasha, wow I think about that a lot but I still haven't come up with the actress. All I know is when she's cast she'll have all the right attributes. Halle can you hear me?
