Boyz N Da Hood-May 2005

Boyz N Da Hood are the latest artists to come out on P. Diddy's Bad Boy South record label. Their first single, "Dem Boys," is hot and if you have heard their song "Felony," you know these guys are the truth.
Their debut album hit's streets on June 21st. They are a great group of guys, intelligent and fun to talk to. They may look tough, but they are classy, southern gentlemen. Boyz N Da Hood are Jody Breeze, Young Jeezy, Big Gee and Duke. They are all from the Atlanta area.

FYI, Bad Boy has the nicest and best press kits in the record industry. I love the little Bad Boy folders and the careful detail paid to press clippings and the glossy color photos. Anytime I get a package from Bad Boy I get happy. Also, they are very prompt when it comes to artist interviews.

Hey, this is Dorrie from Thabiz.com, are you all there?
Boyz N Da Hood-
Yeah this is Big Duke.

How are you guys doing?
Boyz N Da Hood--We're good.

Is there a release date for the album?
Boyz N Da Hood-Yeah, June 21st.

What have you all been doing up until this point to prepare for the release, promo?
Boyz N Da Hood- -We just started promo. We have been doing shows. We start promo tomorrow.

Where have you been doing shows at?
Boyz N Da Hood-- Just throughout the South East.

How did you go about getting your deal with Bad Boy?
Boyz N Da Hood-- I know you heard of Keon Clark. We were real good friends with Keon and just started from there.

I know Puffy does Making The Band and other shows with MTV. Will we see a Boyz N Da Hood show anytime soon?
Boyz N Da Hood- You probably will, but it won't be a Making The Band.

Well of course not you all are already made.

Boyz N Da Hood- We are going to have a different kind of show. You will see us on HBO. You know what I saying?

Doing what? What you all gonna be doing on HBO?
Boyz N Da Hood -Everything. Put cameras around our house no telling what you might see.

How long have you all been together?
Boyz N Da Hood -About a year.

The video is out.
Boyz N Da Hood-- Yeah.

Are you all starting to get recognized everywhere you go?
Boyz N Da Hood- Yep.

Have you all been performing with any other artists or just yourself?
Boyz N Da Hood- We have done a few radio shows that have a lot of artists. We did one in Miami, Spring Bling that was huge, but usually it's all about Boyz N Da Hood.

How was Spring Bling?
Boyz N Da Hood -Good. It was wild, it was fun. It was incredible. There was a lot of love.

Have any of you all had solo deals prior to becoming members of the group?
Boyz N Da Hood-All of has. I was signed with Block independent before Boyz N Da Hood.

Who is that talking?
Boyz N Da Hood-Geek. Jody has a deal with Warner Bros/Sho Nuff. Duke got a deal with BG/Def Jam, Big Gee has a solo thing through Bad Boy.

So now you all have all of these major label deals. Is it everything that you thought it would be when you were up and coming artists trying to get a deal?

Boyz N Da Hood-Yeah, it's more work.

Do you ever have time to see your old friends or family?

Boyz N DA Hood-Yeah, you fit it in. It's hard but you fit it in.

Since there are so many huge artists that came out of Atlanta do you feel pressure to keep the Atlanta reign going?
Boyz N DA Hood-No. We are going to take the reign higher. We apply pressure.

What are your goals for the group in the next year?

Boyz N DA Hood-For everyone to be talking about us 10 years from now asking about this group how they feel about being compared to Boyz N DA Hood like they ask us how we feel about being compared to N.W.A. Boyz N DA Hood is a movement.

Any last comments? I can't think of anything else. It was nice talking to you all.

Boyz N DA Hood- It was nice talking to you. What did you say your name was again?

Dorrie Wheeler and I write for the entertainment and celebrity interview website thabiz.com.
Boyz N Da Hood-
