Bobby Valentino Interview

Interview with Disturbing Tha Peace R&B singer Bobby Valentino. Album Special Occasion due this October.

First up is what's up with the name change. I heard it was changed and then it was back.

Bobby Valentino-I'm getting the chance to keep it. We were able to work things out. There is a guy overseas who had the name but we worked everything out.

Are you glad of that?

Bobby Valentino-Yeah definitely because I've actually had this name since I was a young'un so for me to have to change it would have been an injustice to myself.

The new album is named Special Occasion. Tell me all about the new album?

Bobby Valentino-Well you know I worked with a lot of hot producers on this album. I worked with Rodney Jerkins, Brian Cox, Tim and Bob, Dre and Vidal, Sean Garrett, The Light, a lot of hot producers I put them on one album to make it a special occasion and I have a song for every occasion whether you are with that certain someone or if you are about to go to the club. I got a song for every season and every reason for the season.

I know you've been working with Tim and Bob a long time now it seems like a lot of people are working with them. Describe your working relationship with them.
Bobby Valentino-They are like my big brothers. They can work with anybody they want but they know the vibe that we have is the best one. Our relationship working together is just out of here. They are like my favorite producers to work with.

The last time I talked to you, you were talking about launching your clothing line is that something you are still working on?
Bobby Valentino-Yeah I got the Bobby V Jeans for women they are going to be on the market at the top of the year.

What have you been doing this summer? Any performances?
Bobby Valentino-Yeah I've been still promoting and doing my last album and promoting my new album. I stay on the road and keep myself out there as much as I can.

Have you finished shooting your video yet?
Bobby Valentino-No, we're going to shoot it in the next few weeks and we just had a meeting about it.

Since you are just shooting the video and the single hasn't really impacted yet do you have any concerns about the album coming out in September?
Bobby Valentino-Oh no it's October 24th.

That makes more sense my press release says September. That gives you more time. I just looked at some of the Bobby Valentino fan sites on the Internet. Do you ever get the chance to check those out?
Bobby Valentino-I check them out occasionally when I'm on the computer and I have some time.

Of the new album which of the songs are really special to you?
Bobby Valentino-Yeah you got one called "Let Me Miss You," you got one called "Over and Over," you got one called "Tired of Being Alone," and you got "Turn The Page," those are just a few of them.

Do you have any guest featured artist on your new album?
Bobby Valentino-Sean Paul from the Youngbloodz and I got Luda on the album I'm trying to figure out who's going to be the last person.

DTP is doing really good right now with Shawnna and Shareefa, Field Mob, and Luda, what's it like being part of the DTP family?
Bobby Valentino-Its real good because its very family oriented. It's cool being on DTP. I'm happy.

What do you do in your down time?

Bobby Valentino-Just kick it. Relax. I like to record too during my down time.

Do you ever hit up the clubs?

Bobby Valentino-I hit the clubs occasionally.

I have to ask you this because I get confused. Do you have an official Myspace profile? I saw a few when I was doing research for the interview.
Bobby Valentino-Just http://www.myspace.com/bobbyvalentino

Does it ever bother you, you know people kinda like impostering you?

Bobby Valentino-You mean on Myspace? Not really. It means you are somebody or have done something.

Do you ever get to get on there and check out the comments?
Bobby Valentino-Every now and then I do but there are so many requests and comments on there it kind of overwhelms me.

I know you have the fashion line coming out have you thought of crossing over into other forms of media like acting?
Bobby Valentino-I want to get into acting definitely. I've received a few scripts but right now I'm just focusing on the music and after this album I want to get into the acting.

You're following up your first album rather soon. Is it your plan to do an album a year?

Bobby Valentino-That's a goal for me because I think a lot of good music is missing out there. I really want to hit the people with some good R&B every year just to facilitate them and keep them knowing that the R&B is still real and I'm going to bring it back.
