What have you been doing since 80 Dimes came
out a few years ago?
B. Rich-I've been recording. I opened up a few
studios. Just doing shows, spotty shows here and there.
Perfecting my art.
"Whoa Now" was kind of like a party song. Did that describe
the vibe of the rest of the album?
B. Rich-No. I think like songs that introduce your
album sometimes you make songs that conquer the masses
that you know can attract as many people as you can but
you keep followers from the songs that you make on your
album. So sometimes the singles don't represent 100% what
the album may be. "Whoa Now" was just a fun song. It was
more creative to me than anything.
What's the name of the new album?
B. Rich-Born Rich.
How long have you been working on the album?
B. Rich-Six to eight months. I always record. I
like to do music just for myself.
You know I listen to a lot of gossip and read a lot of
Internet chatter. What do you have to say to people who
say you aren't really from Baltimore?
B. Rich- I did my video in Baltimore. I was the
first person to have a major deal from Baltimore. I did
everything from Baltimore for my first album. They just
speculating I guess. They didn't check no facts. They
haven't really been following what I have been doing.
What is the first single from your album?
B. Rich- I have a single called "Grown Man." Another
one named "We're All Doing Time." I didn't want to place
the weight on just one song this time. I wanted to give
the audience a few looks at me. So I'll just be bringing
songs out maybe every three months or so to give people
a feel who I really am because you cant really get a true
perception of an artist from just hearing one song. I
think that's the case with a lot of things. When people
hear the music that I'm bringing to the table they will
definitely like it.
Do you have any features or guest artists on your album?
B. Rich- No, I don't have any artists features.
I have producer LES he worked with Nas. I have this kid
Mike, I have some Baltimore producers, the producer who
did "Whoa Now."
What music are you feeling right now?
B. Rich- I like a little bit of everything. I like
Kanye West. I like Jeezy CD. I guess that's what I can
think of right now. The Hustle and Flow Soundtrack.
I like that.
Have you shot any videos for the new album yet?
B. Rich-No, we plan on shooting one pretty soon
though.
What are your overall goals for the new album?
B. Rich- My overall goal with music is to do something
you love that comes from your heart. If you happen to
get rich from it then that's extra beautiful. With the
new Born Rich I want to get the message out that
it really don't matter to me how much platinum, how much
gold you got. I was born with all the stuff I needed to
be considered rich.
